1950s Moomin Figurines Added
Now you can find the Moomin figurines from the 50s from Mukify 😍. Between 1956 and 1963, ceramics artist Leo Tykkyläinen made approximately 15,000 Moomin figurines of ten different Moomin characters in his workshop. There are several color variations for each character, and the size of the figurines varies slightly. Every figurine is unique.
Leo Tykkyläinen was a ceramics artist, famous for making Moomin figurines to be sold in the Stockmann department store in Helsinki from the late 1950s to the early 60s.
In 1964 Tykkyläinen started working at Arabia’s factory, and the manufacturing rights of the figurines were transferred to Arabia at the same time. However, Arabia did not manufacture more figurines until the 1990s. These 90s figurines were designed by Tuulikki Pietilä. Leo Tykkyläinen continued to work at Arabia until his retirement in 1979.
